Where does the volunteering take place?
In our premises in Nottingham city centre – close to Nottingham Trent University.
Can I get public transport, or do I need to drive?
Most volunteers at the Safer Living Centre – Nottingham make their own way to and from the centre – but we will pay all reasonable travel expenses for mileage if you want to drive, or buses/trains/trams etc. if you use public transport.
What days and times does the volunteering take place on?
The Safer Living Centre – Nottingham is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. We have various activities that our volunteers help to supervise.
How long do I need to volunteer for?
We will look at any amount of volunteering that you can give us – but we need our volunteers to be able to commit to at least 6 months for at least 2 – 3hrs a week.
I am a student and go home to elsewhere during non-term times. Can I still volunteer?
Yes you can – as long as we know in advance when you are not going to be available.
Can I volunteer on more than one project?
We would be happy for you to volunteer at the Safer Living Centre – Nottingham as well as any other SLF projects.
What is the process to becoming a volunteer?
- In the first instance – contact the centre manager Dave Potter at: ku.ca.utnnull@rettop.divad.
- You will then be sent some information and an application form to return.
- If your application is suitable you will be invited to visit the centre for an informal interview.
- If you are successful at interview you will be given induction training and be asked to sign a contract.
Will I need security/criminal records checks?
We will process and pay for an enhanced DBS check for all volunteers if required. You will also be asked to provide details of a referee.
