Volunteering at the Corbett Centre
Where does the volunteering take place?
In our premises in Nottingham city centre – close to Nottingham Trent University.
Can I get public transport, or do I need to drive?
Most volunteers at the Corbett Centre make their own way to and from the centre – but we will pay all reasonable travel expenses for mileage if you want to drive, or buses/trains/trams etc. if you use public transport.
What days and times does the volunteering take place on?
The Corbett Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. We have various activities that our volunteers help to supervise.
How long do I need to volunteer for?
We will look at any amount of volunteering that you can give us – but we need our volunteers to be able to commit to at least 6 months for at least 2 – 3hrs a week.
I am a student and go home to elsewhere during non-term times. Can I still volunteer?
Yes you can – as long as we know in advance when you are not going to be available.
Can I volunteer on more than one project?
We would be happy for you to volunteer at the Corbett Centre as well as any other SLF projects.
What is the process to becoming a volunteer?
- In the first instance – contact the centre manager Dave Potter at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
- You will then be sent some information and an application form to return.
- If your application is suitable you will be invited to visit the centre for an informal interview.
- If you are successful at interview you will be given induction training and be asked to sign a contract.
Will I need security/criminal records checks?
We will process and pay for an enhanced DBS check for all volunteers if required. You will also be asked to provide details of a referee.
